How to run a weekly football game without the headaches

UPDATED · 5 MIN READ

Running a weekly game with friends comes down to four tasks that repeat every week: knowing who's coming, making the teams, sharing them and recording the score. The one that causes the most arguments is making the teams. Teamix handles that part and the ones around it; the pitch and the payments are still up to you.

  1. MONWho's coming?The list in the chat.
  2. WEDMake the teamsThe part that starts arguments.
  3. THUShare themBefore leaving home.
  4. THURecord the scoreFor next time.

How do you know who's coming?

The usual way is a list in the group chat: someone posts the date and people add their names. It works, and there's no need to change it. The hard part is getting from that list to two teams.

In Teamix, you copy the list from the chat and paste it: Teamix finds each player on the group's roster and ticks them for this week. You can also tick them by hand. A match needs at least 6 players.

How do you make the teams without arguing?

With this week's players ticked, Teamix suggests several team options, each balanced on physical, defence, attack and vision, and on positions. If none convinces you, ask for another.

Then share the voting link in the chat. Anyone can vote for or against each option, without an account, and an admin confirms the chosen one. If you want to understand how the balancing works, it's explained in how to make balanced football teams.

How do you share the teams?

When you confirm an option, it becomes the match. Copy the teams as text and paste them into the group chat, so everyone knows who they're playing with and which colour to bring.

And after the game?

Record the score. Every confirmed match keeps its teams and score exactly as they were that day, even if ratings or the roster change later. Over time, the history tells you whether games are coming out even.

Can I share the organising?

Yes. Invite others with the group's link, approve who joins and decide what each person can do:

  • OWNER

    Whoever creates the group.

  • ADMIN

    Manages players, ratings and matches.

  • MEMBER

    Sees the teams and votes.

If there are several admins, each one rates in private and Teamix uses the average. That way it doesn't all depend on one person's opinion.

What doesn't Teamix do?

Teamix focuses on the teams. It doesn't do these things, and doesn't try to:

  • Book the pitch
  • Collect or split payments
  • Track attendance
  • Replace the group chat
  • Run leagues or tournaments

For those, keep using whatever already works for you. Teamix fits in the middle: it takes the list from the chat and gives the chat back the teams.
